This selection of photos is taken from the work of Atelier Tetuko. Originally I was going to select a work by an architect I admire, but this book caught my because of the raw binding which was kept together by string. The cover shows a raw photo of stone and the statement “Listen to the Materials,” which demonstrates a first impression that the architect feels strongly about materiality and reflecting that in their work. The spread I chose is a series of diagrammatic graphics to show the research and design behind a disaster relief trailer house. I liked how the diagrams showed a degree of process to the final work which is shown through traditional drawings and photographs of the complete work.
